Here at Mama Cakes we like to do what we can for local causes, so in the build-up to Christmas we were busy fund-raising: after all buying a cake is one of the most enjoyable ways of donating to charity but having something delectable for yourself as well…
The flooding in Cumbria led to a huge groundswell of public, community support, with people around the county and further afield wishing to support those whose homes had been flooded – in some cases for the second time in either 6 or 10 years. Hayton School sold cakes outside school at the end of the school day with an impromptu ‘tuck shop’ and most days proved to be a sell-out!
Mama Cakes provided some delicious cupcakes towards the fund-raising effort.
The school raised a total of £200 towards the Cumbria Flood appeal.
We also provided a topically-decorated Christmas cake as a prize for the PTA Christmas Fair. Each entrant paid a fee and then guessed the weight of the cake. The winner then got to take the cake home. Not only did we raise money for PTA funds with this cake, but it made a lot of people smile too.
