We are celebrating!
Mama Cakes is having its own celebrations this week: we’ve been put on the Event Suppliers’ list for one of Cumbria’s most prestigious wedding venues, lovely Armathwaite Hall (it also has the best spa in the world in our opinion) and will have a stall at the hotel’s next wedding fair, in November. We were particularly delighted that the Events Manager emailed to say how much she liked our website -as well as our cakes. Visit www.armathwaite-hall.com to find out more.
If you’re planning on getting married next year, it’s not too early to start organising everything – and avoiding any last minute stress. We are already taking bookings for 2017 so make sure you contact us early so you don’t miss out.
MamaCakes will be at the following wedding fairs throughout the autumn and winter:
- Swallow Hill Top, Carlisle: Sunday 7th August
- The Halston, Carlisle: Sunday 11th September
- Greenhill Hotel: Sunday 2nd October
- The Old Fire Station, Carlisle: Sunday 9th October
- The Hallmark Hotel, Carlisle: Sunday 20th November
- Armathwaite Hall, Bassenthwaite Lake: Sunday 27th November
- Easterbrook Hall, near Dumfries: Sunday 19th February
- Friars Carse Country House Hotel, Auldgirth: Sunday 26th February
Don’t forget you can also come to see us in our showroom near Hayton, where you can sit down with a cup of tea, look at decorations and chat through ideas for your own celebration, and try some cake.
We like to think we’re the best: we aim for the highest standards of customer service and deliver freshly-made, hand-decorated cakes to your venue. We also think our ‘base price per portion’ (see the ‘prices guide’ page on our website) means that you can control your budget, and provides good value for money.
But don’t take our word for it! We’ve been disappointed in how many wedding venues we have come across and wedding fair organisers, which provide only one supplier’s name to potential brides and grooms. Whilst obviously we’d love to be the cake supplier on the Event Organisers’ lists and also the one that you choose, it’s important that you shop around and compare the quality of the cakes, toppers and decorations as well as whether we meet your customer service expectations. Whilst it takes time to compare all the different suppliers, we think it’s worth it: this is after all your special day and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Another reason for starting to plan well in advance and allowing yourself plenty of time!
A word of advice?
Someone asked us the other day what our advice would be for anybody organising a wedding. A serious point is that you shouldn’t be bamboozled into spending far more than you want to, purely because someone thinks that they can charge extra because it’s a wedding. But on a more light-hearted note, we would say ‘relish the planning’. Go out and look at lots of venues; taste lots of different cakes and champagnes; and try to look forward to a big, special, party which you and your guests will enjoy and have fond memories of forever, rather than getting stressed about it.
